I'm third generation OCD...kidding. . . .   NOT   kidding.  I shamelessly cry at every   wedding, yes I'll even cry at yours. Born and   raised in Paauilo, a small town north of Hilo, right here on The Big Island. I can't say that I have ever experienced rock fever probably because I love palm trees and coconuts. I'll choose green tea over coffee to start my day and I'm a die hard Disney fan. A series of events led me to become passionate about planning. In 1997 I decided to turn my unofficial planning business into a career. I can honestly say I am perfectly enamored and challenged by doing what I love. My training began in 1985 at The Mauna Kea Beach Resort, where I learned the true meaning of service. Moving to The Hyatt Regency Waikoloa in 1989 {which eventually became Hilton Waikoloa Village}, later meeting my husband at the same resort. Ours is truly a love story of fate. Marrying on the three year anniversary of our first date at a secret ceremony in Hilo.  It was all his idea and HE planned the whole day. I don't ever dream of renewing our vows just so I can plan THE "perfect" wedding, because ours couldn't been have been more perfect, even if I planned it myself.
No longer satisfied with designing and planning events from sheer experience, I felt having formal training would only enhance what I bring to the table. Earning a certificate from the prestigious, New York Institute of art and design for planning is the icing on the cake. Being knowledgeable about all aspects of your business helps you create the a better experience for your clients and I want to do everything I can to make yours unforgettable.

I am the polar opposite of Hannah and I tend to    live in the moment, it drives her crazy.  I LOVE a    good challenge. Tell me it can't be done and I'll      find a way. She calls me the do-er of all things and my honey do list grows faster than I can check it off.  I love power lifting and days at the beach. Oddly, I am inspired by a bad event. Mesmerized by images of events gone wrong, I look at everything in great detail and perfect my craft by using inspiration from what I see as, a lesson in what not to do and how to do it better. Running a neon cord through your event is like putting up lights but not turning them on...why would you do that? Finding my groove in the event industry didn't take long. I felt limited working for other companies and needed an avenue to execute my creative side. Hawaii Island Events was built on that desire and it remains true twenty one years later. Today I create solutions outside the box, many of which you will see replicated at luxury resorts along the coast and companies who follow suit
I'm lighthearted, love a good joke and can find something positive in every situation.
I view weddings as a time to enjoy, there is no greater satisfaction than to walk away at the end of the night to the sound of laughter and good conversation. I pay close attention to key elements of your design and ensure that it will be well lit, both for function and for aesthetic. There is good reason to have a lighting director on your team. We won't do an event without one. Want to know more? We'd love to talk to you.
